Parliament speakers of Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia meet

Bishkek, Feb.18, 2020. /Kabar/. As part of the official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov met with Chairman of the Majlis ash-Shura (Consultative Assembly) of Saudi Arabia Abdullah ibn Muhammad Al ash-Sheikh. According to the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament, during the meeting the issues of expanding political, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties and strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation were discussed. The sides also talked about strengthening of legislative support necessary for the growth of trade turnover between the countries, development of tourism and attraction of investments. Dastanbek Dzhumabekov noted Kyrgyzstan is interested in deepening cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all areas. "Last year, during the official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov held fruitful meetings, and I believe that the visit of our parliamentary delegation will also be a great step in promoting further successful cooperation," the speaker added. At the same time, Dzhumabekov spoke about the need to increase trade turnover and trade fair organizations. He also told about investment opportunities of Kyrgyzstan, and requested support for implementation of agricultural and infrastructure projects through the Saudi Fund for Development. The speaker also suggested buying organic food from Kyrgyzstan. Abdullah ibn Muhammad Al ash-Sheikh, Chairman of the Majlis ash-Shura, noted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is also interested in progressive development of bilateral relations. "The King has a special instruction on this issue," he said. "Our goal is to strengthen political, economic and cultural-humanitarian ties. Negotiations are currently underway with interested airlines to open direct flights," the chairman added. The official visit of a delegation from the Jogorku Kenesh was organized at the invitation of Chairman of the Majlis ash-Shura (Consultative Assembly) of Saudi Arabia Abdullah ibn Muhammad Al ash-Sheikh. It consists of Deputy Parliament Speaker Mirlan Bakirov, MPs Aibek Altynbekov, Omurbek Bakirov, Akylbek Zhaparov, Kanatbek Isayev and Abdimuktar Mamatov. Deputies are also accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister Nuran Niyazaliyev, Deputy Economy Minister Sultan Akhmatov and Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation Amangeldi Isayev.
