Permanent rep of Kyrgyzstan to UN and Head of UNOCT discuss cooperation

Bishkek, June 26, 2020 / Kabar /. Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the UN Mirgul Moldoisayeva met in New York on Thursday with UN Deputy Secretary General and head of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) Vladimir Voronkov. During the meeting, held in the form of a videoconference, an exchange of views took place on pressing issues of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and UNOCT. In particular, they discussed the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in the Central Asian region, including measures to strengthen the capacity of states to prevent and combat terrorism and strengthen the role of the UN system in this area. The parties also discussed planned cooperation activities between Kyrgyzstan and the UN units dealing with counter-terrorism issues, including the participation of the Kyrgyz delegation in the UN virtual counter-terrorism week from July 6 to 10, 2020.
