PM Najib Has Proven Leadership Via Transformation Programme

PETALING JAYA (Selangor, Malaysia), July 9 (Bernama) -- It is unnecessary for Prime Minister Najib Razak to debate with opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim as the former's transformation programme has yielded results. Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) president Dr Chua Soi Lek said the people could judge measures implemented by ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) under Najib's leadership since taking over the country's leadership three years ago. MCA is a component party of BN. "The nation's competitiveness has risen from 28th to 21st, the ease of doing bussiness from 23rd to 18th and we have been recognised as fifth most favoured FDI nation in Asia. "We fulfilled all promises as against the empty promises made by the opposition," he said at the second debate between him and opposition party DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, here Sunday. Chua said Anwar should be debating with others because the opposition is "full of rhetoric". He challenged the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR/ People's Justice Party) adviser to translate those rhetoric into results. The debate entitled "DAP & MCA: Whose Better Policies Benefit the Community? was organised by Asia Strategy and Leadership Institute (Asli). The two hour debate was moderated by Asli chief executive officer Michael Yeoh. Earlier, Guan Eng claimed that Najib was reluctant to debate with Anwar because he feared being judged by the people. Chua said MCA was involved in nation building from the start including the fight against communists during insurgency, fight for independence and right of citizenship after independence. On the National Economic Policy (NEP), he said there was no denying that Malaysia had succeeded in producing quality in this country. In terms of restructring of society, he said the country had achieved certain success as no non-Malays dared to say they did not benefit from NEP. He said Malaysians should embrace Najib's transformation programme as it would provide the nation hope for a better future. -- BERNAMA
