PM visits Pathum Thani to inspect irrigation system

PATHUM THANI, Nov 19 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha visited Pathum Thani province to inspect irrigation system and water management for farming. The trip is seen as the premier’s attempt to offer encouragement to rice farmers and show his determination to tackle challenges with long-term sustainable solutions to rice cultivation. It came as farmers are hit by slump in rice price. Irrigation Department Director Lertviroj Kowattana briefed Gen Prayut and his Cabinet members on the field trip. He assured that there would sufficient water supply for agricultural purposes for this cultivation season. Gen Prayut government has introduced various short- and long-term measures to assist farmers, looking to solve the problem effectively by which to tackle at root cause. The prime minister has called on farmers to adapt to changes and new conditions. Observing water resources and management, Gen Prayut looks to improve the irrigation system. (TNA)
