Police Arrest One Of Wanted Suspected Terrorists In Poso

Palu, C Sulawesi, Jan 16 (ANTARA) - One of the 24 people wanted by police in connection with their alleged involvement in terrorism in Poso, Central Sulawesi, was caught in Poso, Central Sulawesi Province, on Wednesday. The suspect known by his initial as AS was caught in his hiding place in Tamanjeka hamlet in Poso Pesisir during the "Maleo Aman I" operations, tThe Central Sulawesi regional police command chief, Brigadier General Dewa Parsana, confirmed here on Wednesday. AS is now being investigated at the Poso resort police station and will likely be sent to Jakarta for further investigation. Dewa Parsana confirmed the arrest saying AS is believed to have been involved in a military-type training in Gunung Biru, Tamanjeka and also the killings of two police officers in October 2012 and the shootings of four police Mobile Brigade officers that led to the officers` death in December. The police are currently conducting Maleo Aman I operations in the region in an effort to restore security situation and arrest the wanted persons, involving 1,500 officers and military personnel.
