Poll shows people want govt to improve livelihood
BANGKOK, May 20 (TNA) -- A poll conducted by Rangsit University shows that majority of the respondents want the government to first improve people’s livelihood while they believe political and corruption problems are of secondary issues.
The poll was organised almost two years after the military under the name of National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) toppled the elected civilian government of Yingluck Shinawatra on May 22, 2014.
Out of 10 points, the respondents gave 7.03 points for people living happily physically and 6.26 points on mentally happy, according to the poll.
People living in the Central region enjoyed most happiness with 7.39 points while people in the Northeast had least happiness with 5.84 points.
The three most active ministries in the eyes of respondents were the Office of the Prime Minister, scoring 8.25 points followed by the Defence Ministry 8.13 points and the Agriculture and Cooperatives 8.02 points.
Respondents also wanted NCPO to improve the livelihood of the people followed by resolving domestic economic, trade and investment, implementing agricultural reform and solving declining prices of farm products.
The director of masters’ degree of political science faculty said that it was not unusual that the popularity of NCPO had declined after working for a certain period.
What people wanted now from the government is to help them solved the current high cost living while politics and corruption problems are of secondary issues, he added. (TNA)
