Prawit attends Thai-Cambodian GBC meeting

BANGKOK, March 27 (TNA) -- Thai Deputy Prime Minister/Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon and his delegation left Bangkok to attend the 12th Thailand-Cambodia General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting in Cambodia. The defense minister, along with Supreme Commander Gen Surapong Suwanna-at, Army Chief Gen Chalermchai Sitthisart, Naval Chief Admiral Na Areenij, National Police Commissioner Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda, and Permanent Secretary of Defense Gen Chaicharn Changmongkol had arrived in Siem Reap of Cambodian to attend the 12th Thailand-Cambodian GBC from March 29-30. Cambodian Defence Minister Gen Tea Banh would also co-chair the meeting. Gen Prawit, in an interview, said the meeting is a stage for the committees from both sides to hold talks to summarise the progress and revise past joint operations. He stressed that there would be no talks of the Phra Vihear Temple or troops deployment. The Thai defense minister said talks would also on agendas presented by the Cambodian government as the Thai delegation is its guests, stressing that he has been discussing conflicts between both neighbours continuously and the air has been cleared.
