President Ahmadinejad Leaves Caracas For Managua

Caracas, Jan 11, IRNA -- Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday left Caracas for Managua, Nicaragua, to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Nicaraguan re-elected President Daniel Ortega on the second leg of his Latin American tour. President Ahmadinejad is heading a top-ranking political and economic delegation including Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in the tour which will take him to four Latin American countries. On his first leg of the tour, President Ahmadinejad visited Venezuela and conferred with the country’s President Hugo Chavez where both sides inked a joint statement. The two presidents on Monday evening participated in a joint press conference on issues concerning mutual, regional and global developments. After Nicaragua, President Ahmadinejad will visit Cuba and Ecuador where the Iranian delegation will discuss with the political and business leaders ways to upgrade political and economic cooperation./end
