President Ahmadinejad Off To Saudi Arabia For OIC Meet

Tehran, Aug 13, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad left here Monday morning for the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, where he is to attend the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to be held on August 14-15. President Ahmadinejad is taking part in the event at the official invitation of King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz. He was seen off at the airport by First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi. President Ahmadinejad is accompanied by Supreme Leader's Advisor in International Affairs Ali-Akbar Velayati, President's senior advisor Mojtaba Samareh-Hashemi, Head of Presidential Office Esfandiar Rahim Mashaee, and a number of ministers. As Iran is one of the active members of the OIC, President Ahamdinejad's presence in the meeting would play a key role as he is to discuss Tehran's viewpoint on major issues of the Islamic world in order to bring unity and consensus among Muslim states./end
