President of Italy`s Friuli Venezia Giulia highlights the region`s potential in Baku

Baku, March 14 (AzerTAc). President of Italy`s Friuli Venezia Giulia region Debora Serracchiani highlighted the potential and business environment of the region as she made a presentation in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku. “We have a lot of excellent systems for carrying out health researches, especially for cancer and pediatrics researches. We have free universities in the health system. The region has a lot of agreements with Russia, Slovenia because Friuli Venezia Giulia is an autonomous region,” Ms. Serracchiani told a joint meeting of Azerbaijani and Italian businessmen. “We have direct international relationships and agreements so we have also a particular system of infrastructure. We have two European corridors. We are in a particular position so for us it is very important to expand our port Trieste,” said the President of Friuli Venezia Giulia region, who leads a large delegation of Italian businessmen to Azerbaijan. Ms. Serracchiani added: “There is a lot of investment in the port of Trieste. We are directly connected to Germany. We have also one of the most important sea ways from Turkey to Trieste.” Head of Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) Rufat Mammadov highlighted Azerbaijan`s economic achievements, and business and investment environment in the country. “Azerbaijan has growing economy. We have a strong private sector. We managed to have built macro-economic environment. Our economy was one of the most stable economies in the world. The country is well known for its oil and gas.” He said Azerbaijan attached great importance to its relationship with Italy. “We look forward to enhancing our relations further. Azerbaijan is a rapidly developing young democracy with a steadily growing economy and a stable political system. We approved a special strategy. Non-oil GDP is increasing, and this is one of the strategic priorities for us.” Mr. Mammadov said: “In order to promote global and regional integration we implement multi strategic projects in the region. We established favourable business climate. We initiated an e-government program. We have managed to bring huge amounts of foreign investment to the country. We have also special mechanisms for promoting investment.” Italian Ambassador in Baku Giampaolo Cutillo praised the organization of the meeting. “Today`s mission was extremely successful. We started with the highest-level meeting with the President of Azerbaijan. This is a strong signal that Italy and Azerbaijan have strong partnership and strengthening economic relations.” “We have a joint economic mission between the two governments, which also plays an important role in developing our relations,” added the Ambassador.
