President Jeenbekov meets CCTS Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev

Bishkek, Oct.3, 2019. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov received Baghdad Amreyev, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (CCTS).
Amreyev informed about the results of Kyrgyzstan’s chairmanship in the Turkic Council, as well as the Secretariat’s preparatory work on the CCTS Summit, which will be held in Azerbaijan on Oct. 14-15, 2019, the press service of the Kyrgyz President said.
President Jeenbekov stressed the symbolism of holding their meeting on the day of the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Nakhichivan Agreement on establishment the CCTS.
Baghdad Amreyev noted Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship as the most successful in the history of the CCTS. He stressed that during the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic, Hungary has gained the status of observer and Uzbekistan has become a full member of the Organization. At the same time, the European Branch of the CCTS has been opened in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
In addition, it was noted that over the 10 years of its existence, the Turkic Council held 55 events, 15 of which - during the presidency of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Baghdad Amreyev drew attention to the fact that by order of current Chairman of the CCTS - President of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Secretariat is actively working to institutionalize cooperation in the economic sphere.
President Jeenbekov noted the historical significance of Uzbekistan's membership in the Turkic Council, as well as the opening of the European Branch of the Turkic Council in Budapest in September this year.
The Turkic Council, in full, the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (CCTS) is an international organization comprising some of the Turkic countries. It was founded on Oct.3, 2009 in Nakhchivan. The idea of setting up this cooperative council was first put forward by first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in 2006.
