Putin, Rouhani discuss joint projects in energy sphere, transport - Kremlin

MOSCOW, August 14. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani have held a telephone conversation, discussing issues related to bilateral cooperation, the Kremlin press service said in a statement on Monday.
"There has been an exchange of views on bilateral cooperation, including the implementation of joint projects in the oil and gas industry, electricity production and transport," the statement reads. According to the Kremlin press service, the two presidents also discussed some global issues.
According to the Kremlin press service, "while exchanging views on various aspects of the situation in Syria, the parties confirmed their willingness to continue coordinate joint efforts aimed at resolving the crisis."
The two presidents also agreed to continue maintaining contacts at various levels.
Putin also congratulated Rouhani on his inauguration, which took place on August 5, and wished him success in fulfilling presidential duties.
The Kremlin press service said that the conversation had been initiated by Iran.
Hassan Rouhani, 68, was reelected as Iran’s president in the election which took place on May 19. As many as 57% of voters (23.5 mln people) supported him, while voter turnout was 73%. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei endorsed Rouhani as the country’s president.
