Referendum timeframe for early parliamentary elections declared in Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi, August 12 /Trend N.Kirtzkhalia / The Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) will adopt a decision for a referendum to conduct early parliamentary elections up till August 22, the Georgian CEC told Trend on Monday. According to the report, the initiative for a referendum was recently made by a group which includes human rights activists including Nana Kakabadze and Gela Nikolaishvili. The referendum question is to be formed as follows: "Do you agree that Georgia is holding early parliamentary elections in 2014?" If the CEC adopts a decision in favour of this issue, then the initiative group will begin to collect around 200,000 signatures from referendum supporters. The group explains its initiative as being with 'unequal distribution of power in the Georgian parliament'. Do you have any feedback? Contact our journalist at agency@trend.az
