Salehi: Iran-Turkey Can Bring Peace, Stability To Region

Tehran, Jan 7, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Thursday that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey can play significant role in regional developments. Salehi made the remark at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu in Tehran on Thursday. Expansion of cooperation between the two countries would serve to maintain peace and stability in the region, he said. Iran and Turkey share many commonalities, Salehi said, adding that Tehran and Ankara back popular movements in all countries as they are opposed to interference of others in domestic affairs of other states. “We believe that security of the region should be protected through collective cooperation,” Salehi said./end
