SPEAKER MEETS AMBASSADOR OF GERMANY

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Federal Republic of Germany is a big partner of Mongolia in Europe, said the Parliament Speaker Z.Enkhbold at a meeting on Tuesday with Mr Peter Schaller, the FRG Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mongolia.
The Speaker spoke about parliamentary and local elections' laws and results, and said Mongolia has tried to implement German Bundestag's experience in running the mixed system of election. He also highlighted a need of the two countries to focus on realizing the works agreed during the mutual visits of Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel and Mongolia's President Ts.Elbegdorj.

Mr Eduard Oswald plans to pay an official visit to Mongolia next year, "and I hope this will contribute to intensifying of the bilateral relations," the Speaker said.
In response, Mr Schaller said Mongolia has been the most transparent nation among all countries he had served in as a diplomat for 30 years. The cooperation have been running "successfully, for example, Mongolia has made cooperation agreements with the NATO and the European Union, and is participating in peacekeeping operations with Germany," Mr Schaller said, adding that some 1,000 Mongolian students are studying in Germany.
A Mongolia-Germany joint institute for technology will be established in Ulaanbaatar, a process of this work is running successfully, noted Mr Schaller. This institute is expected to start in September next year to prepare professionals of mining, heavy vehicles and mechanisms, he added.
Z.Enkhbold proposed to create an additional class in the institute to prepare energy specialists and underlined a requirement to quickly activate the bilateral collaboration in the mining sector.
The Ambassador supported these proposals.
