Syrian Kurdish Youth Committee aims to overthrow Assad regime

IRBIL (A.A) - February 15, 2012 - Syrian Kurdish Youth Committee Secretary General Ibrahim Murad has said, "We want to overthrow Assad regime because they bleed us white." Murad told A.A correspondent that they wanted to have social and cultural rights of all Arab and Kurdish peoples assured and guaranteed under a new constitution after collapse of the Assad regime. -"Syrian Kurds are not supporting Assad" Murad expressed that Kurds are not together with Assad in Syria but divided sides. That is why there has not been enough reaction to Assad regime yet. Assad really hesitates from us, Murad said. Kurds had started a campaign in 2004. Now Assad wants to deal with Arabs first. After this assimilation we are sure he is going to start a mass killing over Kurds too. Murad, "In fact, Kurds are not willing an Islamic administration after Assad regime because they are afraid of Muslim Brothers. As Kurds, we want to build a democratic and secular country which leans over a constitutional structure." The main reason we gathered in Irbil is that we want to get some help from our Kurdish brothers who live in north of Iraq and Turkey. This help would be in order to get Syrian Kurds' constitutional rights after the Assad regime. Murad also answered a question about the Syrian Kurds who were involved with the PKK terrorist organization and said, "It is a fact that some Syrian Kurds have been involved with the PKK, but we believe that every Kurdish minority has to solve its own problems individually in the country where they are dependent." -"People in Syria had to get armed" Dr. Redwan Badini, one of the important Kurdish opponent leaders in Syria, told AA correspondent, "The situation is very sensitive in Syria, people used to defend their rights by protesting the regime on streets. With the start of the regime's bloody oppressive operations, it became a necessity to get armed for the opponents to defend themselves. The regime has been exploiting its own people for 49 years. Kurds have been treated as second class citizens in Syria." Badini also expressed, despite Kurds were fragmented in terms of several deceptional ways, there were still some Kurdish groups that were working to demolish the regime. Asked why Syrian Kurds had returned to Syria from Qandil, Badini said, "Everybody asks us this question. Some influential groups think the country (Syria) is weak and I believe they try to take advantage of it." Badini thanked Turkish President Abdullah Gul first, and then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, also Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu because they stand by the Syrian people. He said, "We know how much the situation in Syria has been reflected in Turkey. Assad regime does not give our rights but also Sunni Arabs. That regime committed a massacre in Hama in 1982. We only demand democracy for all of the Syrian peoples."
