Tehran, Ankara to foster anti-terrorism cooperation
TEHRAN, Dec. 15 (MNA) – The Iranian ambassador to Turkey said that Tehran and Ankara have signed a number of agreements on campaigning against drug trafficking, terrorism, and organized crimes.
Ambassador Bahman Hosseinpour made the remarks during a meeting with Turkish Interior Minister Idris Naim Sahin in Ankara on Wednesday.
Hosseinpour congratulated Sahin on his appointment as the new Turkish interior minister and described political, economic, cultural, intelligence, and security cooperation between the two countries as very good.
He also said that the value of trade between Iran and Turkey, which currently stands at $15 billion, should be increased, adding that the relevant organizations in Iran and Turkey have made the necessary efforts in this regard.
The Iranian ambassador also called for the expansion of ties between Iranian and Turkish police forces.
Sahin praised Iran’s culture and civilization and emphasized the expansion of ties between the two countries in various areas, particularly in the area of combating terrorism.
