Tehran police arrest 83 criminals, bust major drug gang

TEHRAN, Dec. 26 (MNA) – Tehran Police Chief Hossein Sajedinia announced that the police arrested 83 criminals in a special operation conducted in the early hours of Sunday morning. The operation was part of the “neighborhood-based security plan,” which is being implemented in 375 neighborhoods of the capital to deal firmly with hooligans, Sajedinia told reporters on Sunday. The criminals had committed crimes like hooliganism, brawling, distributing illicit drugs, mugging, and brandishing bowie knives. Sajedinia also announced that the police have recently identified and busted a major drug gang in Tehran, seizing a large amount of narcotics.
