Tehran says Washington’s claims are baseless

TEHRAN, Dec. 25 (MNA) – In a statement released on Sunday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman vehemently refuted claims by Washington that Iran had a hand in the September 11 attacks and that an al-Qaeda member is in Iran. By repeating such hollow claims, which are made in line with its illegitimate political purposes, the U.S. would jeopardize the international peace and security, Ramin Mehmanparast said. Mehmanparast said it is quite “evident” that the United States created al-Qaeda and then supported it. He said Iran believes that the international community should be vigilant about the consequences of such “irresponsible” remark by U.S. officials and express its deep concerns about them.
