Thai-Malaysian PMs meet for the 6th Annual Consultation
BANGKOK, Sept 10 (TNA) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak had attend the 6th Annual Consultation between the Prime Ministers of Thailand and Malaysia yesterday, during which both sides had expressed readiness to cooperated on all fronts.
Thai Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-o-cha had warmly welcomed his Malaysian counterpart, spouse, and entourage yesterday.
After the meeting, both premiers had held joint press conference, where the Thai leader had affirmed both sides' strong bonds and relations.
In 2017, both neighbouring countries are also set to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
Gen Prayuth had taken the opportunity to thank his Malaysian counterpart for his creative facilitation to help seeking peace in the Thai southernmost region, while ensuring that the Thai government is determined to solve problems in the Thai south through peaceful measures and through the integration of all concerned agencies.
Both leaders also condemned the violent acts that took place in the Thai southern border and damaged properties and destroyed innocent lives.
For cooperation on trade, investment, and tourism, Gen Prayuth had reaffirmed the Thai government's intention to cooperation with the Malaysian government in achieving the trade target of 30 billion US dollars within 2018.
The Thai premier also pledged Thailand's full support for Malaysia as the host of the upcoming SEA Games 2017 in Kuala Lumpur.
The leaders of Thailand and Malaysia had also agreed yesterday, to strengthen intelligence sharing on security and the construction of a border wall to combat transnational terrorism and smuggling.
After the meeting, both prime minister had witnessed the signing of an MoU on the linking of the Rubber City in Songkla province and Kota Putra Rubber City in the state of Kedah, between the Industrial Estate of Thailand and Malaysia's Tradewinds Plantation Berhad. (TNA)
