Tifatul Resigns As Communication Minister

Jakarta, Sept 30 (Antara) - Communication and Informatics Minister Tifatul Sembiring resigns from his post as of September 30 to fulfill his duty as the newly elected member of the Parliament for the period of 2014-2019. "It is true. I have resigned as minister," said Tifatul who will be representing the Justice and Prosperous Party (PKS) in the Parliament. "I have prepared a biography where I put several things that are needed to be done in order to enhance our communication and informatics sector," said Tifatul. According to him there were three big projects which his successor needs to pay attention to namely the Digital TV program development, the LTE 4G technology application in Indonesia and state-owned television TVRI`s expansion program to rural areas. Tifatul also highlighted the need for the government to reduce the negative effects of internet such as copyright infringement, pornography, etc. "It is also necessary to bring internet connection to people in the rural areas," said Tifatul.
