Turkey to resume negotiations with EU from Jan. 2013

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 14 / Trend R. Hafizoglu / Turkey will resume the talks with the EU from Jan. 2013, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay was quoted today by Turkish news agency "Anadolu" as saying. He said that almost all the negotiations with the EU have been stopped during Cyprus's presidency since August 2012. But the presidency will pass to Ireland from January 2013. Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that Turkey will break the contacts with the European Union during the Republic of Cyprus's presidency in the organization. The negotiations on Turkey's accession to the EU have been carried out since 2005. Despite the majority of EU countries' support, France and Germany stubbornly refuse to provide it with a full membership, proposing instead a "privileged partnership". But Ankara does not agree.
