Turkey's EU minister meets EU commissioners

DAVOS (A.A) - January 26, 2012 - Turkish EU Minister & Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis met EU commissioners in Davos within the scope of the World Economic Forum on Thursday. Bagis, who met EU Commissioner for Competition Joaquin Almunia, asked him to show more flexibility to open competition policies chapter to negotiations during Turkey's EU membership talks. Stressing that Turkey fulfilled its responsibilities in competition policy chapter, Bagis said that Turkey would avoid negative steps that would affect successful economic performance. Bagis also held a meeting with EU Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger, and they discussed the energy chapter within the scope of Turkey's membership talks. Oettinger said that opening energy chapter with Turkey would be for the interest of everybody.
