Turkish citizens living abroad to be able to cast votes in presidential election, says Deputy PM Bozdag
ANKARA (A.A) - February 27, 2012 - Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag said that the first presidential election in Turkey would take place in 2014.
Speaking at the Anadolu Agency's (AA) Editor's Desk, Bozdag said that a draft law at the Turkish Parliament would make it possible for Turkish citizens living abroad to be able to cast votes at the Turkish presidential election.
Our citizens living in Europe, Germany and elsewhere will be able to cast votes at Turkish missions abroad, Bozdag underlined.
Touching on the activities of various Turkish organizations such as the Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Presidency of Turks Abroad and Relative Societies and the Yunus Emre Foundation, Bozdag said that these organizations were the soft power of Turkey abroad.
We have restructured the TIKA and they will be everywhere from now on. With the new concept adopted for the TIKA, this organization now serves in Somalia. TIKA will be present in corners of even the most developed countries where assistance is needed, Bozdag said.
Soon, TIKA will have an office in Egypt following the "Arab Spring", Bozdag noted.
On the AA itself, Bozdag said that the AA was a global trade mark.
The AA's news would make positive contributions to how the world sees events. AA's news from all corners of the world would help the world receive accurate information, Bozdag also said.
