Turkish EU minister says what happens in Arab countries is beginning

ANKARA (A.A) - February 14, 2012 - Turkish EU minister has said that what had happened in Arab countries was the beginning of a process that would last a long period of time. EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis appeared on a television program and replied to questions on several matters. Answering a question on Arab Spring, Bagis said that some changes took place in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya, but the process in the region had not been completed yet. People should focus on which stance Israel would assume during the process, he said. Either Israel would make a change by respecting values of the people there or a new restructuring would take place in the Middle East, Bagis said. Replying to a question about the process that continues in France in regard to 1915 incidents, Bagis said that the law limiting freedom of expression was a tool of political exploitation. Result of the presidential election that would take place in France two months later should be waited, he said. Bagis said that he believed that the French Constitutional Council would annul the law, as it was against French Constitution and European values. The French Senate adopted a law which penalizes the denial of Armenian allegations regarding 1915 incidents during Ottoman Empire period.
