Turkish FM meets Lebanon's former president
BEIRUT (A.A) - January 16, 2012 - Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Sunday met with Lebanon's former President Amin Jamayel as part of his talks on the sidelines of a United Nations meeting in Beirut.
"Turkey attaches great importance to the prevention of conflicts between religious sects in the region and to peace and stability in Lebanon," Davutoglu told reporters after his meeting with Jamayel.
Davutoglu said Jamayel's proposal to hold an inter-religious dialogue meeting was important, adding that Turkey and Lebanon would work together on this issue.
"We need more dialogue, cooperation and solidarity than ever in the region," Davutoglu said.
Davutoglu separately met with Elias Audi, the current Metropolitan bishop of the Greek Orthodox Church for the Archdiocese of Beirut.
The Turkish foreign minister later departed from Beirut for Turkey.
