Turkish FM participating G20 meeting Mexico

LOS CABOS, MEXICO (A.A) - February 20, 2012 - Turkey's top diplomat, Ahmet Davutoglu, was in Los Cabos, Mexico, Monday, participating in an informal meeting of the foreign ministers of G20 countries. Davutoglu delivered a speech at the opening session of the meeting as diplomatic sources quoted him saying that international system needed to reform its institutions to come up with new ideas to solve global problems. Davutoglu said a latest decision of the UN Security Council on Syria had reminded of the Cold War era, adding that such a perception should be prevented. The Turkish foreign minister is set to deliver keynote speech at a session to devise global management systems for humanitarian development. The session will also see participation of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, German FM Guido Westerwelle and EU's top security policy official, Cathrine Ashton.  Separately, in a statement to the Anadolu Agency, Davutoglu said he had discussed with Ashton the resumption of Iran's nuclear talks in with P5+1 countries. "The important thing is that the talks will resume and that they produce results. It does not matter where they are made but if the sides would express willingness to hold them in Istanbul we will happily do all we can," Davutoglu said. Iran's Foreign Minister had earlier said Iran and western countries had agreed to resume talks in Istanbul over Tehran nuclear program.
