Turkish FM says expects powerful message from Tunisia meeting for Syrian leadership
ANKARA (A.A) - February 15, 2012 - Turkey's top diplomat has said he expected a prospective international conference in Tunisia on Syria to send a strong message to the Syrian leadership to move to end violence in the country.
"I believe the Tunisia meeting will produce a very strong message which would both express solidarity with Syrian people and also a warning for the Syrian regime," Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters Wednesday in a joint press appearance in Ankara with Bakir Izetbegovich, Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Davutoglu said the Syrian issue would continue to be debated at the United Nations after the Tunisia meeting, adding that Turkey had moved to work on launch efforts to extend humanitarian aid to Syrian people.
Tunisian capital Tunis will host on February 24 a meeting of "the Friends of Syria" which aims at bringing together countries seeking a joint position to end violence in Syria.
