Turkish president expresses solidarity with Kyrgyz people
ANKARA (A.A) - January 12, 2012 - Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Thursday said his country was willing to extend any support to Kyrgyzstan.
"I would like the whole world to know that we stand in solidarity with our Kyrgyz brothers who have passed through a major transition process. And I would like to congratulate President Almazbek Atambaev who has led his country successfully," Gul told a joint press confidence with his Kyrgyz counterpart in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
Gul said Kyrgyzstan had experienced "extraordinary changes" through the last couple of years with a new constitution and legislation, adding that the country "had still has a lot to do."
Gul said cooperation between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan would continue in all fields, adding that the Kyrgyz capital was set to host a meeting of the high level consultation council.
The Turkish president also said that Turkey was encouraging Turkish businesspeople to make new investments in Kyrgyzstan, expressing confidence that the trade volume between the two countries would exceed 1 billion USD in 2012.
