Turkish president invited to Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Dec. 20 / Trend H. Hasanov / Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent an invitation to Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time, the Turkmen government said today. The invitation was delivered during a meeting with co-chairman of the Turkmen-Turkish Business Council Sefa Gomdeniz. According to the information, the Turkish president's greetings were conveyed to the Turkmen counterpart. The Turkish president expressed the Turkish side's great interest in increasing the interaction with Turkmenistan on the whole spectrum of spheres. A high level of the interstate relations was stressed at the meeting. "The Turkmen leader emphasized the desire of both countries to continue the fruitful cooperation based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit taking into account the national interests," a government report from Ashgabat said. The stable growth of bilateral trade turnover and the implementation of several large-scale joint projects testify to this. A big textile complex, recently built with the participation of Turkish partners in Rukhabat district of the Akhal region, was cited as an example. While expressing Turkish businessmen's interest in accelerating the mutually beneficial partnership, Gomdeniz thanked Berdimuhamedov for the help and full support for Turkish companies working in the country. Turkish businessmen master over 1,270 investment projects in Turkmenistan, including more than 1,200 projects worth over $ 15 billion and 26 projects worth over 2 billion euros, as well as 26 projects worth over 56 billion manat and other projects. Ankara is interested in delivering Caspian energy resources to Europe via the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Turkey.
