Nairobi: Abdul Razzak Mohammed Hadi, UAE Ambassador to Kenya, on Wednesday presented his credentials to Mrs. Sahle-Work Zewde, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), as UAE Permanent Representative to United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). During the meeting with the UN official, Ambassador Hadi conveyed greetings from H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, to United Nations Secretary-General. On her part, UNON Director-General commended the role UAE plays in providing support for the two United Nations agencies helping other nations fulfil national and international commitments. The UN official also commended the role the UAE founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, played in protecting the environment both regionally and internationally. She also noted the importance of Zayed International Prize for the Environment, which was established in recognition of his environmental efforts. Expressing United Nations' appreciation for UAE's continuous and generous support to the international organisation, Mrs. Zewde noted that UN-Habitat admires Abu Dhabi and Dubai as modern and fully-integrated economic hubs, and Sharjah as an international cultural hub, with the three cities taking environment into account as instrumental in achieving social and economic development. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
