UAE Armed Forces marks completion of mine clearance project in Afghanistan

Kabul: The General Headquarters of the UAE Armed Forces has marked the completion of its mine clearance project in Afghanistan with a reception hosted at the UAE Embassy in Kabul. Since its start in 2011, the UAE Armed forces' project has cleared landmines from a total of 25 million square meters of land making the whole area good for agriculture and other civilian activities. The two-year project also ensured the security of the local population of the involved areas. The UAE Armed Forces' reception was attended by the Commander of the UAE Force in Afghanistan, and Yousef Saif Khamis Al Ali, Ambassador of the UAE to Afghanistan, and representatives of the United Nations, the Afghan Government and the companies involved in the said project. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
