UAE attaches great importance to Egypt

Abu Dhabi: General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces met the visiting Egyptian popular diplomacy delegation, comprising prominent political, cultural, social and media figures, on Sunday at the Armed Forces’ Officers Club in Abu Dhabi.
They are on a visit to the country to offer thanks to the UAE’s leadership and people for the unlimited support to Egypt.
General Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the delegation and said: “Our fraternal love is mutual and the support we provide to our brothers in Egypt is a duty and an extension to our stance by our fellow Arab countries. We attach great importance to Egypt, a key stabilising force in the Arab world. It is our duty and the duty of all wise people of the Arab world to contribute in its stability.”
He expressed the hope that the Egyptian people will achieve their aspirations for security, stability and progress. He added that the next phase requires all Egyptian people to join hands for comprehensive development through true support to the government’s efforts and national programmes.
General Sheikh Mohammed thanked the delegation for this initiative, referring to the deep-rooted bonds between the two peoples.
Makram Mohamed Ahmed, former head of Egypt’s press guild thanked General Sheikh Mohammed for the warm hospitality extended to the delegation.
“We extend our gratitude to the leadership and people of the UAE and thank you for granting us the opportunity to express our love to this country, founded by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. There is hardly any Arab country that has not benefitted from Sheikh Zayed’s generosity and benevolence,” he added.
Makram recalled Sheikh Zayed’s stand during the October 1973 war, his efforts to lift the Arab ban on Egypt and his numerous initiatives for development in Egypt.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State; Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Egypt; Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown’s Prince’s Court and Ihab Hamouda, Egypt’s Ambassador-Designate to the UAE. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
