UAE attaches great importance to human dignity: Sheikha Fatima

Abu Dhabi: There is growing concern about the miserable conditions victims of human trafficking, particularly women and children, are living in volatile regions of the world, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the Women's General Union, of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has said. Addressing a gala dinner held last night at the Emirates Palace by Enthusiastic and Ewaa Shelters for Women and Children, Sheikha Fatima said the world is facing a huge challenge as the basic human rights of the victims of human trafficking are being violated in many countries, especially in the times of crises, armed conflicts and political turmoil. "We, in the UAE, have always adopted a simple philosophy: Humanity is living with dignity," she added. Sheikha Fatima highlighted in her speech the efforts made by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to formulate strategies for combating human trafficking and for maintaining a society free of any form of violence. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
