UAE, Iran recognise importance of furthering bilateral ties

Tehran: Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Speaker of UAE Federal National Council (FNC), has welcomed results of talks between Iran and P5+1 over Tehran's nuclear programme and expressed his hope the two sides would reach an inclusive, final agreement that ensures the lift of international sanctions on Iran and promotes peace in the Gulf region and the world at large. Al Murr made his remarks during a meeting in Tehran with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Al Murr conveyed to the Iranian head of state greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. In turn, the Iranian president asked the UAE official to convey his regards to the UAE leaders. Al Murr said the UAE and Iran maintain longstanding, historic ties based on mutual respect, good neighbourliness, and joint cooperation for serving security and stability in the region under the leaderships of the two friendly countries. The FNC speaker wished President Rouhani success in handling internal and external files in a way that closes Islamic ranks in order to achieve civilisational renaissance, keeps the Islamic Ummah away from differences, and extremism and enhances joint efforts for combating terrorism and non-interference into internal affairs of other states. The two sides stressed the importance of furthering bilateral ties in light of reciprocal visits between UAE Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad-Javad Zarif within joint cooperation in handling files of common issues. The meeting discussed the outcome of the 9th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC), which Tehran hosted last week. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
