UK Ties Not Significant In Iran’s Economy

Tehran, Nov 28, IRNA – British government’s decision to cut off economic ties with Iran takes place while the statistics indicate that the total value of London’s commercial ties with Iran stands at between 600-800 million dollars, a figure which is not effective in the country’s international exchanges.
Declaring that it has severed all its commercial ties with Iran last week, it also admitted that the decision is ineffective. British Finance Minister George Osborne has said that the decision was taken after the International Atomic Energy Agency voiced concerns over Iran’s nuclear activities.
British media has immediately announced that London has done so in coordination with Washington.
In addition to the fact that Amano’s confidential meetings with the US spying organizations to raise the same old claims against Iran, most of experts believe that the move to sever commercial ties with Iran is a totally political move taken under the US pressure and Zionist lobbies.
London’s statesmen have on several occasions admitted that such a move has no impact on Iran.
On the other hand, the government is in a financially critical situation and will suffer more as a result.
Confirming Washington's pressures on David Cameron's government, the newspaper ‘Daily Telegraph’ also said that the British government has imposed new sanctions against Iran in a coordinated move with Canada and the US.
The publication also referred to China and Russia’s opposition to the British sanctions and added that Beijing has announced hat it will not solve any problem. Furthermore, it will further complicate the situation.
According to Daily Telegraph, China is one of the key allies of Iran which has turned into the main economic partner to Iran, marginalizing western companies. And Russia has blocked the way for any new sanctions, describing West’s measures as unacceptable and against the international regulations.
No to mention that the Britain has changed its role from mediation in Iran’s nuclear case to a disputing party indicates that London’s recent decision is political and propagandistic.
While the experts point to the economic and social problems grappling the British government, massive student and public protests in particular, it tries to introduce itself as a main player in the international scene.
Majlis ratification of a bill to downgrade UK ties and expel its ambassador from Tehran reveals that Iran’s economic exchanges with Britain is not something important as political ties./end
