Tehran, Aug 26, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araqchi said on Sunday that the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs will arrive in Tehran tonight. The visit to Tehran of Jeffrey D. Feltman aims to focus on regional issues, particularly crises in Syria, Egypt and Lebanon, Araqchi told IRNA. When asked about American nationality of Feltman, Araqchi said, Although Feltman is a former US diplomat, but his visit to Tehran has nothing to do with his nationality and he will visit Tehran as the UN Under-Secretary-General. During his stay, Feltman is scheduled to hold talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs, Hossein Amir Abdollahian. This is Feltmans second visit to Tehran. He attended Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Tehran in 2012 and accompanied UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in his meeting with Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on the sidelines of the Summit.
