UN Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs praised the UAE's support to humanitarian projects worldwide

ABU DHABI, 9th September 2015 (WAM) – Foreign Minister, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, yesterday received Stephen O'Brien, the United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief. O'Brien offered condolences to Sheikh Abdullah on the Emirati martyrs who fell while participating in the Saudi-led Arab coalition operations. The meeting touched on the co-operation between the UAE and the UN and the international organisation's humanitarian programmes in a number of countries hit by disasters and conflicts. Sheikh Abdullah re-affirmed President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's keenness to enhance the role played by the UAE in the humanitarian arenas. He added that the UAE seeks to continue its efforts and contributions in all humanitarian fields as the world is currently witnessing many challenges, including that of refugees and displaced people. O'Brien praised the UAE's pioneering role, initiatives and support to the international organisations and their humanitarian projects worldwide. He also commended the country's support to developing and poor countries and the quick delivery of aid to the needy around the world.
