US Ambassador to Thailand meets Deputy Prime Minister

BANGKOK, Sept 24 (TNA) -- US ambassador to Thailand Glyn T Davies meets with Deputy Prime Minister/Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan who is due to attend a security forum in Hawaii. Ambassador Davies told reporters after the Friday meeting at the Defense Ministry that he discussed with Gen Prawit about the meeting agenda of the upcoming meeting among defense ministers of ASEAN countries and dialogue partners. The ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM-Plus) would be held later this month in Hawaii. The US ambassador also said the discussion covered other developments in bilateral relationship including military ties, anti-human trafficking cooperation and intelligence sharing. He said Thailand had made significant progress in tackling human trafficking after it had been remove from Tier 3 watch list of the US State Department’s Trafficking in Person (TIP) Report. Commenting on Thailand’s political development, the Ambassador said he believed the military government would achieve the goal of the political roadmap, paving the way for democratic reform. (TNA)
