U.S., Israel behind abduction of Iranian engineers: Syrian politician

TEHRAN,Jan.1(MNA) – Leader of the Syrian socialist-oriented Communist party Qadri Jamil has condemned the abduction of the Iranian engineers by unidentified gunmen in Syria, and called it a plot devised by the United States and the Zionist regime. Unidentified gunmen abducted five Iranian engineers and technicians on December 20 and two other Iranians on December 21 in the restive Syrian city of Homs. According to a translation of his remarks, Jamil said that the abduction of the Iranian engineers is part of a failed plot against Syria which the U.S. has devised to make direct intervention in Syria’s internal affairs. “We believe that the U.S. is seeking to keep the conflicts and concerns (in Syria) at the highest level to carry out its plots,” he said. Jamil said they have hatched this plot to darken the relations between Tehran and Damascus.
