Velayati: US-West Seeking To Influence Regional Uprisings

Tehran, Feb 26, IRNA – Supreme Leader’s Advisor for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati said on Saturday that the US and West are seeking to infiltrate into the popular uprisings in the region in order to influence them. Valayati made the remarks in a meeting with a group of Libyans who are now visiting the Islamic Republic of Iran. He cautioned people in Libya, Egypt and Tunisia to fully protect and safeguard their revolutions. Welcoming the Libyan people, Velayati said the US, Britain and France planned to hinder success and progress of these revolutions at any cost. Revolutionary people in Tunisia, Libya and Egypt who could resist the global arrogance should continue their resistance to disappoint their enemies he said. The current developments in the Arab world have left great impacts on the entire region, he said. Countries such as Egypt, Tunisia and Libya have proven that they have always been committed to Islamic values and with reliance on their ideology they have resisted the aggression of Zionists and western states. Western countries seek to sow seeds of discords among Islamic schools of thought in a bid to harm revolutions in the region, Velayati warned./end
