West has accepted Iran’s package of proposals for talks: Iranian MP

TEHRAN, Nov. 6 (MNA) – MP Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Saturday that the West has accepted Iran’s package of proposals for negotiations. Boroujerdi, who is the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee chairman, said that the Islamic Republic will enter into negotiations with the 5+1 group (the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China, and Germany) only based on the package of proposals. “When the West says it is ready to resume talks with Iran, it means it has already accepted (the terms of) the package,” he added. Boroujerdi was referring to the written reply that EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton sent on October 21 to the most recent letter of Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili, in which she said that the 5+1 group is willing to resume talks with Iran within weeks if Tehran is prepared to “engage seriously in meaningful discussions.” Boroujerdi also said that Iran’s package of political proposals presented to the European Union addresses the causes of the crises occurring in the region as well as Iran’s readiness to cooperate with the international community in campaigning against terrorism and drugs.
