West Scenarios Against Iran Propaganda, Show : Larijani

Tehran, Jan 17, IRNA – Western countries' scenarios, including sanctions on its oil, military threats and assassinations are propaganda show against Iran regional inspiring role and scientific progresses, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said here Monday. Larijani made the remarks in an interview with Iran's Arabic language news channel Al-Alam. Larijani underscored that “Iran’s drills in Strait of Hormuz could have worried the West but they are completely peaceful; sanctions against Central Bank of Iran are part of a pressure package posed by the US and its allies and they are nothing more than a propaganda show which aims to prevent Tehran’s inspiring role in ongoing Islamic Awakening in the Middle East and North Africa.” “Iran is ready for any scenario including sanctions on its oil and it will use its own ways to confront the threats; using Strait of Hormuz as a strategic tool to confront threats depends on the upcoming events; sanctioning Iran oil and convincing buyers of Iran oil won’t be an easy task for enemies,” he continued. Larijani underlined that westerners at the first step used international institutions like IAEA Governing Board to stop Tehran nuclear program and they used the UN Security Council at the second step. “Assassinations show Western states' desperateness regarding Tehran's peaceful nuclear program; enemies should know that the nuclear related science in Iran is developed and there are not a limited number of peoples who have the knowledge; such terrorist operations can not stop Tehran's nuclear progresses,” he stated. Larijani expressed concern that the “IAEA's recent report on Iran's nuclear activities was not technical and it was a politically motivated report in favor of the objections of the Zionist regime and those of Washington; a committee in IRI Parliament will analyze the IAEA relations with Tehran to define a step-by-step approach toward that international institute.” “Assassinations shows that the Zionist regime and the US are desperate to stop Tehran nuclear progresses by other tools; IAEA was aware about the start up operation of Fordo enrichment facility and this enrichment plant is indifferent from similar ones in case of security, structure and speed of centrifuge machines; IAEA did not followed its obligations to provide Tehran Research Reactor with required nuclear fuel and this issue forced Tehran to start enrichment; the West is concerned about Iran technological progresses and not its deviation from peaceful purposes,” he said. “Ankara officials have a desire to host the upcoming nuclear talks between Iran and G5+1 and Tehran welcomes this suggestion but Iranian top nuclear negotiator Sa'eid Jalili and European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton will determine the time of negotiations,’ Larijani added. Referring to his recent visit to Ankara, Larijani noted that Iran had conveyed its position toward the deployment of US missile defense system in Turkey and the issue needs further investigation of the two countries’ experts. Speaking about his negotiations with Turkish officials about recent unrest in Damascus, Larijani stated that Iran and Turkey have joint stand over reform in Syria and there are just some differences over the methods. Parliament Speaker held meetings with Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in his two day visit last week. He held talks with the host officials on regional cooperation, current developments in Syria, Iran and Palestine and especially on Judaization of Holy Quds. He also discussed issues such as regional and parliamentary cooperation and the Islamic Inter-parliamentary General Assembly, which is going to be held in Indonesia on January 30./end
