Yemen’s Nobel winner condemns statements by U.S. ambassador
TEHRAN,Dec.26(MNA)--As thousands of Yemenis poured into streets on Saturday to condemn the killings of protesters by security forces, the U.S. ambassador to Sana’a claimed the demonstrations were not peaceful.
On Saturday, regime forces opened fire on thousands of protesters, who had staged a 270-kilometer-long march - called March of Life - from Taizz to Sana'a.
U.S. Ambassador Gerald Feierstein shunned any attempt by the protestors to approach the presidential complex and parliament. “It seems to have the intention not to carry out a peaceful march, but to get access to Sana'a in order to generate chaos and provoke a violent response by the security forces,” Feierstein said.
Yemen’s Nobel peace winner Tawakul Karman condemned remarks by Feierstein.
Yemen’s revolutionary council also demanded that the ambassador must apologize for his remarks.
