President receives member of House of Reps of Japanese Parliament Toshiaki Endo

Bishkek, July 6, 2023. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov received on Thursday Chairman of the General Council of the Liberal Democratic Party, Member of the House of Representatives of Japan Toshiaki Endo.

An exchange of views on the current state and prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Japan took place.

Sadyr Zhaparov took the opportunity to convey his greetings and warm wishes to Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, noting their last meeting in Glasgow in 2021.

"I believe that our meeting will be another positive step in strengthening relations between our countries. Japan is a close friend and long-time partner of Kyrgyzstan. Last year our countries celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. During this time we have gained a wealth of experience in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, close ties of friendship between the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Japan,” the Kyrgyz leader noted.

Sadyr Zhaparov noted the important role of parliamentarians of the two countries in the promotion of culture, traditions and spiritual values within the development of public parliamentary diplomacy.

He noted with satisfaction the good results of the "One Village - One Product" project, which has been given national status and it was decided to extend it further to all regions of the country.

"Given the fact that Japan is one of the world's leading economies, the Kyrgyz side is interested in attracting advanced technologies and innovations from Japan to develop the national economy. I invite you to participate in projects for the construction and operation of small hydropower plants in the field of hydropower. The tourism industry also has a good potential,” the president of Kyrgyzstan added.

In turn, Toshiaki Endo thanked the head of state for the warm welcome, noting that this is his first visit to Kyrgyzstan.

He conveyed the invitation of the country's leadership to Sadyr Zhaparov to visit Japan, noting that the prime minister also recalls their meeting in Glasgow and hopes to see them again in their country.

Speaking about parliamentary cooperation, Toshiaki Endo added that the Japanese side is interested and ready to further develop cooperation with the Kyrgyz side, with an emphasis on investment of human resources.

Mentioning the joint projects, he identified a project in the energy sector and hopes for its speedy implementation with the support of the Kyrgyz leadership.

The meeting was concluded with an exchange of documents signed by the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Justice of Japan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan.
