The President stresses the need for Int'l, regional, bilateral and multilateral coordination to find solutions to the global water crisis

Baghdad / NINA /- The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the need for international, regional, bilateral and multilateral action and coordination to find solutions to the global water crisis.

 

 A presidential statement stated that the President of the Republic met today, Wednesday, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Natasha Burke Mozar, and her accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, and the Minister of Environment, Nizar Amidi, on the sidelines of the United Nations Water Conference held in New York.

 

 During the meeting, according to the statement, they discussed the existing relations between the two countries, and emphasis was placed on strengthening the bonds of relations in areas of common interest in a way that achieves the common interests of the two friendly peoples.

 

 The President of the Republic stressed that the water crisis represents a threat to the world, indicating that Iraq is one of the countries that are greatly affected by the decline in the levels of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, stressing the need for international, regional, bilateral and multilateral action and coordination to find solutions to the global water crisis.

 

 The President of the Republic indicated, according to the statement, that the Iraqi government is working hard to find solutions to the water crisis and climate change and its serious repercussions on the population, and joint work with neighboring countries, the region and the international community to find common understandings and benefit from international expertise specialized in the field of climate action.

 

 For her part, the President of Slovenia affirmed her country's aspiration to enhance cooperation with Iraq in various fields, noting that her point of view coincides with the proposals of the President of the Republic on the need for coordination and international cooperation to find solutions to the water crisis and confront climate change./ End
