COVID-19 Cases In Indonesia Surpass 1.5 Mln Mark, Death Toll At 40,581

By Mohd Shukri Ishak JAKARTA, March 29 (Bernama) - COVID-19 cases in Indonesia have surpassed the 1.5 million mark, with the death toll now standing at 40,581 people. According to data published on the Indonesian government's official website on COVID-19, covid19.go.id., a total of 5,008 new cases were recorded overnight, bringing the total to 1,501,093 cases. Cumulative recoveries numbered 1,336,818 cases, while from noon yesterday to noon today, another 132 deaths due to the virus were reported. Indonesia, which started its vaccination programme on January 13, has so far vaccinated more than 7.2 million people with the first dose while over 3.2 million have received the second dose. -- BERNAMA
