UAE participates in WHO meeting in Geneva

Abu Dhabi (WAM): Dr. Mohamed Salim Al Olama, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Health, led the Ministry's delegation at the 134th World Health Organisation (WHO) executive meeting in Geneva.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Essa Ahmed Al Mansoori, Director of the Under-Secretary's Office and International Relations Office.
The meeting took a number of important decisions, including the adoption of global targets and strategies for Tuberculosis, TB prevention as well as their prevention and control techniques throughout the years 2015 to 2035, adoption of the global action vaccine plan which aims at achieving and using the framework and accountability methods that are used and adopted by the World Health Organisation.
Such techniques are useful for the immunisation process, data collection and improvement or national programs, according to a press release from the UAE Ministry of Health.
The meeting also highlighted the implementation of international health regulations which included influenza pandemic and eradication of small pox and polio, hepatitis and antimicrobial resistance.
Dr. Al Olama also participated as a member of board committee of the UAE Foundation Award which will be distributed in May, 2014 in Geneva at a meeting of the General Assembly of the World Health Organisation. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
