Spanish coach intends to bring young football players of Kyrgyzstan to World Cup in 10 years

Bishkek, May 23, 2023. /Kabar/. Spanish coach Daniel Limones intends to bring young football players of Kyrgyzstan to the World Cup in 10 years, President of the Kyrgyz Football Union (KFU) Mederbek Sydykov told reporters.

Since February this year, the mentor has been training young football players of Kyrgyzstan aged 13 to 16 years as part of a FIFA pilot project. Until July of this year, he will help local coaches of football academies, advising them during training. Limones also serves as a mentor for two youth teams and one junior team.

“He has not yet summed up the results of his work, but he shared his impressions and said that he wanted to stay here for another 10 years in order to take his wards to the World Cup,” Sydykov said.

He also informed that he discussed the implementation of this project with Arsene Wenger, Head of Global Football Development at FIFA, at a meeting in Rwanda.

“Arsene Wenger was interested in my opinion about the project. I said that it should be continued because it will give a chance to our young talents who can prove themselves in football. FIFA specialists can select talented children, whom we can take to clubs, academies and help them achieve success,” Sydykov added.

In addition, FIFA selected only seven countries to pilot the Talent Development Scheme and Talent Coach projects. Kyrgyzstan is one of them and is the only country from Central Asia.
