25 Teams To Compete In CIMB Foundation-Cobra Challenge Trophy
PETALING JAYA (Selangor, Malaysia), April 5 (Bernama) -- Twenty-five teams,
including five Under-16 foreign teams, will be vying for the Challenge Trophy
Cup in the 9th edition of the CIMB Foundation-Combined Old Boys Rugby
Association (COBRA) School Rugby 10s on April 14-15 at Setia Alam Badminton
Academy in Shah Alam, Selangor.
The foreign teams competing are from Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, China
and Thailand.
Tournament Director Wong Jin Hee hoped the 20 local teams competing in the
tournament would give a good fight to the foreign teams and at the same time
gain good exposure.
Wong told reporters here Wednesday that there will four categories competed
during the two-day tournament, namely Cup, Plate, Bowl and Shield competitions.
Wong said defending champion Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI) of
Johor or previously known as Bandar Penawar Sports School would be the favourite
to retain the title for a second time.
The annual tournament initiated in 2005 was a part of the commitment from
the CIMB Foundation and Cobra, to unearth young talents in the sport of rugby,
at the school level.
